Major Benefits of Membership
AANW benefits change as we grow and add more benefits.

Index view

1. New Member Packet

The very first benefit each new member receives is a new member booklet. Developed by the membership committee, it is intended as a ready reference to the new member. The objective is to make each member aware of the many benefits which come with membership in the Apartment Association of Northeast Wisconsin.

2. Membership Meetings

A meeting is held MONTHLY at the Ramada Plaza Hotel at 2750 Ramada Way in Green Bay on the second Wednesday of the month. Social and appetizers start at 6pm and the meeting starts at 6:30. No meetings are held in July and December. These meetings are always informative. Before and after the meeting it is possible to purchase standard rental industry forms, obtain product and service information provided by our business partners, and obtain the previous month's eviction list. During the meeting, there is always an interesting program of speakers, roundtable discussions, and other information sharing. In most meetings, we believe you will learn at least one thing which will save you more than your yearly dues! But ask other members yourself in the lively exchanges which occur after the formal meeting ends.

3. AANW Newsletter

Our local newsletter is published eleven times a year (with only two newsletters covering the months of July, August, and September). It keeps you abreast of our local chapter's activities, provides some helpful articles concerning the rental industry, and beneficial advertising from our associate members.

4. WAA Membership

When you join the AANW, you automatically become a member of the Wisconsin Apartment Association, to which the AANW is affiliated. There are numerous benefits derived from your state membership as well. Many are similar to what will be presented here for the local chapter. Some unique ones include a legislative lobbyist, who works full time for landlord representation on issues of import to the industry.

5. WAA Newsletter

You also get the monthly state newsletter, which contains a wealth of information helpful to anyone connected to the rental industry. You will find yourself counting the days to each new issue.

6. Manager Memberships Available

Property managers of all Dues Paying Owners are invited to attend all meetings, will receive the local newsletter, and are welcome to participate fully in all activities including board membership for a fee of $5.00 per year. They do not however become members of the WAA.

7) Membership Lists

Copies of the updated list of all AANW members is made available at each monthly meeting. It can be used for networking, or buying from, or selling property to a highly targeted audience. Vendor's are welcome to take a copy for marketing purposes.

8) Vendors Table

All associate members and members (property owners) who also provide services and products are encouraged to provide brochures and materials concerning their offerings. These materials are available on a table at the back of the regular meeting room. You are encouraged to utilize this information. Support our vendors!

9) Vendor Presentations

While, we do not yet have enough associate members to fully support the concept, we try to have a vendor introduce hinmself and his wares for 5-10 minutes at each meeting.

10) Previous Month's Eviction List

Working in conjunction with the Clerk of Courts, we provide the previous month's eviction filings at the monthly meeting. It is quite common that landlords will have applicants who happen to be on the eviction list, and they are sometimes making false statements in their application. This list is an invaluable additional screening tool.

11) State Lobbyist

Through the WAA, we have a permanent lobbyist, who represents the interests of all Wisconsin landlords. Through your membership with the AANW, you have the ability to become involved with and directly affect legislation concerning the Wisconsin rental industry.

12) Access to Legislators - All Levels

It is very common for local legislators and other government officials, including judges to speak at our meetings. They generally make themselves available after the meetings to speak one on one with people in a very informal setting. We also have a yearly Legislative day where everyone is encouraged to travel by bus to Madison for a day long session with their goverment officials.

13) Board and Committee Positions

If your desire is to gain insight through helping lead the AANW in accomplishing its objectives, opportunities abound. We welcome volunteers for committees, board membership, and for filling officer positions.

14) Networking with Other Members

Opportunities abound! After several years of participation, you'll look back and realize that a lot of these people are now your friends, and it is great to be able to seek their advice when encountering something about the business of which you are unsure. There are possibilities to buy, sell, and exchange property, to change careers, to meet bankers, lawyers, craftspeople, advertisers, property managers. The single biggest benefit of joining!!
